SEZAIRI LAYS THE TRUTH BARE IN LATEST SINGLE FEATURING KOREAN ARTIST MSFTZ
28th May 2021 — Homegrown singer-songwriter, Sezairi, is back with a brand new track! His latest offering
'Blue', features up-and-coming Korean artist and fellow Sony Music labelmate, msftz.
Sezairi continues the journey of introspection from his last effort, 'Raindrops' as he dives deeper into vulnerability with 'Blue'. Wanting to open up about his life, Sezairi has been drawing inspiration from personal experiences with his wife, family, and friends, to create music that becomes an extension of himself.
Particularly for 'Blue', Sezairi caught himself in a moment of self blame and self doubt. "I decided to commemorate this realisation by writing a song about it, to remind myself that I have tools for remembrance, expression, and acceptance." The catharsis and healing of penning his thoughts resulted in the lyrics for 'Blue', foregoing form and function to foster an honest and steady stream of consciousness.
The smooth and jazzy pop-funk number has an upbeat tempo that tempers the raw emotion and welcomes listeners into a proverbial safe space to talk about matters of the heart.
"'Blue' is a song that I wrote when I wanted to remind myself that loving each other means that you share a space, free of all judgement and anger. A space we save for each other unknowingly and don’t go to often enough."
The song is in itself a conversation — a call of vulnerability that requires a pillar of support in response. And so, up-and-coming Korean artist msftz was brought on board to reflect the duality in perspectives for the safe space intended.
"I spent a lot of time listening to female artists from around the region and I was convinced by how comforting her voice sounded. I knew I had to ask her to write a verse for the song."
After meeting on a video call to talk about the song, the pair shot ideas back and forth through voice messaging. The song was finalised quickly in their shared excitement over the collaboration. Sezairi and msftz's vocals are sweet — harmonious and complementary in the same way that the song's sentiments drive towards working together and in tandem to turn vulnerability into something beautiful and lasting.
Blue is available on all digital platforms from 28th May 2021.

Sezairi represents artistry at its most humble state — from his very core, driven by a love and passion for music. From the early beginnings of his career, Sezairi has since gained invaluable experience, shaping him both as an artist and an individual.

Following the success of 'It's You', Sezairi released the groovy synth-wave number, 'Mirage', that gained over a million streams online, as well as 'In Secret', accompanied by a visually stunning music video shot on location in Japan and directed by Nasri Lian('Point8Cam').
'It's You', 'Mirage', and 'In Secret' were compiled in Sezairi's highly anticipated EP, 'Undertones', released in January 2020, featuring a brand new single, 'She Moves' to complete the body of work.
